The 6 Step Guide For Going Vegan

The 6 Step Guide For Going Vegan

The decision to adopt a vegan lifestyle is a powerful one, a change that carries the potential to ignite an entirely different outlook on life. This is another reason I enjoy the mind, body, spirit connection..looking back, I realize my spiritual awakening and plant-based shift happened around the same time. Or one resulted in the other. Which came first? The chicken or the egg? *removes corny joke about neither getting eaten

Whether you're motivated by your health, looking to cultivate a deeper connection to our planet, or simply a personal desire, this guide will be your roadmap to a new vegan lifestyle.

Step One: Do Some Research

You’re here, reading this, so either you’re reading because you know me and are being nice or you’re actually doing research. Either way, you’re already on Step One, good for you! Researching your decision, say it’s animal welfare, can help solidify your commitment to this noble journey you have chosen.

Another important part of your research should include understanding the basics as well as learning the nutrients you’ll need to make sure you’re getting. When improperly planned, some vegans will lack certain nutrients in their diet, such as B12, iron, and omega-3s and it may be wise to meet those needs through supplementation.
It’s also important to research, local restaurants vegan options, recipes you want to try..etc. This can be a fun time to explore!

If you’re into interesting, although sometimes disturbing documentaries, recommended include The Game Changers, Food Inc, and Forks Over Knifes.

Step Two: Easy Does It

Your vegan transformation doesn't have to happen overnight, so go easy on yourself as you navigate your new lifestyle. Begin by gradually incorporating more plant-based foods into your routine. You can start as slow as swapping out one ingredient at a time, like your coffee creamer, or start with a meal a day, or something more along the lines of Meatless Monday.

Experiment with new fruits, vegetables, grains, and recipes to discover exciting flavors and textures while you’re phasing out of your previous diet. This gradual approach should keep it from being overwhelming, and allow you to make choices comfortable to you.

Step Three: Embrace, Erase, and Explore

Here’s the fun part! My goodness, there are such a plethora of delicious options these days! Back in my day *insert granny voice* there were hardly any places you could go out to eat. Although the first veggie burger was created the same year I was born, being vegan wasn’t popular or accommodated much.
If you enjoy cooking, you’re going to love the adventure of “veganisizing” different meals.

But whether you’re out to eat, perhaps exploring international cuisines, or if you’re home trying new recipes, be sure to fill your plates with an array of colors and  flavors. Fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, and nuts are nature’s offerings to nourish your body and delight your senses.

Step Four: Be With Your People

Transitioning to a vegan lifestyle is more fun when you have a supportive network by your side. Even if you’re the only one in your household on a plant-based journey, there’s a whole community of people out there doing the same. Surround yourself with a vegan community. Fill up your algorithms with groups online that share recipes, vegan eateries and meet ups. They’re everywhere. Like-minded individuals, whether new or vegan veterans, can share inspiration, insights, and passion for your combined journey.

Step Five: Listen to Your Body, Mind, and Spirit

Pay attention to how your body responds to your budding new lifestyle. Notice any improvement in your energy levels, skin, digestion, and overall well-being. Notice something isn’t working. For instance, I learned although I love grilled cauliflower in hot sauce, it gives me gas. And almonds hurt my stomach. So, for the most part, I eliminated them both. Let your body and intuition guide you into discovering what helps you be your best Self!

Step Six: Begin Your Career as an Influencer

Once you’ve embraced a vibrant vegan lifestyle it’s time to share the wealth! Knowledge that is. Once you start experiencing the joys and benefits of this fantastic voyage, let others know the beauty that is plant-based. You could become the beacon of inspiration that is the catalyst for someone else's vegan transformation. Showcasing the delectable meals, boundless energy, and compassionate spirit that a plant-powered lifestyle can bring can be what that girl on Facebook you used to work with ten years ago really needs to see today.

In Conclusion..
Embarking on a vegan journey can be an exciting and rewarding act of self-care, environmental stewardship, and compassion for all living beings. This remarkable journey opens you up to a planet full of new flavors, experiences, and possibilities that will nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Enjoy it, embrace it, and eat well!

With Love,
